It's Heating Up In the City

It's Monday and 95 degrees outside. When it gets this hot and miserable in New York City, things can get a little weird.

More people are outside, away from their hot apartments and looking for some reprieve from the heat in the form of air conditioning. Duane Reade, movie theaters and the service entrances to office buildings will do.

To cool off in a much more fashionable way, take advantage of one of the free public pools throughout the city! We will definitely be using the McCarren Pool in Brooklyn this week as often as possible.

If you're feeling a little more luxe, indulge in some casual leisure at the new pool at King & Grove Hotel in Williamsburg. For about $30 a day, you'll get access to the hotel's salt water pool, lounge area and towel use. So fancy!

Also, ice cream. Although brief, it always feels like a happy and worthwhile necessity New Yorkers and Brooklynites earn by living through the dog days of summer.

A new favorite that recently opened at 175 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg is OddFellows. With flavors like Miso Butterscotch Cherry and Maple-Bacon Pecan, the walk to their storefront is worth the impending heat stroke. Visit the OddFellows website for their full flavor list and information about this new addition to the neighborhood.

Check out The Drift's summer calendar for info on free movies (indoor and outdoor) and other events to make the hot nights here a little cooler.

Happy sweating lovelies!
