Lovely Swedish Vocals for a Cloudy City Day

Even though it's a cloudy day in Brooklyn, we are more than ok with the lack of sunshine if it means the sweltering weather from the past week is taking a break.

Now that everyone can relax without sweating, we wanted to share the other-worldly voice of Swedish-born Alice Boman.

We first heard Boman through the great music blog, Friends With Both Arms.

Her first EP with the Swedish label, Adrian Recordings, was released in May. Called Skisser, or sketches in English, the reflective, simple songs were recorded in Boman's room. The reluctant singer never meant for her work to be heard by the public, and Adrian Recordings keeps the fragile, lo-fi nature of the original demo in their release.

Boman reminds us that real, unadorned music still exists and it's the barest of melodies that can sometimes make the biggest impact. We have been listening to Skisser all week (it's available on Spotify) and can't wait to see what else this Swedish singer will release in the future.
